VitaLink® CI Used In DFW Airport Expansion
Over the past several years the DFW Airport has been going thru a major expansion project. It included adding a new terminal and re building the Hyatt Hotel on the airport property. The local jurisdiction for the airport required that all fire alarm and notification wiring systems be rated for 2 hours in a fire. The engineering consulting firm out of New York City - ARUP decided from a design standpoint that running 2 hour rated Circuit Integrity cable thru conduit was the most cost effective design particularly for the voice evacuation system in the new terminal. Consequently they chose VitaLink® CI for the project and used over 200,000 feet for the project. This wiring system means that the voice evacuation system provided by Ford Audio out of Tulsa Ok. will operate at any time in the airport regardless of where a fire may occur. This is a major advancement in safety requirements for the DFW airport and represents a growing trend towards safety and security for public places throughout the country.
